The idea of starting my own photography and design business started in Summer 2012. Since then, I've been educating myself about photography by reading books, taking online classes, watching countless turtorial videos, and practicing out in the field. Needless to say, I have the utmost respect and admiration for professional photographers who strive to produce quality work. Anyone can pick up a camera and shoot, but a "photographer" has an eye and a passion for what he/she wants to capture...and makes it happen.
I'd be lying if I said I'm completely (100%) happy with all of the work I've done within the past year. I've learned so much and have come a long way from my first shoot (which will never make the light of day on this site lol), that when I look back at earlier shoots, I see some things that I could improve on (i.e. lighting, angles, etc.) Then, I look at some of my more recent work, and give myself a pat on the back for applying all that I have learned.
Don't get me wrong, I am HUMBLED by this experience and I'm happy with how far I've come since last summer. I guess my nerves and tranquil demeanor today (as it pertains to red54), can be attributed to the respect I have for the profession and professionals, and wanting to be where they are...right now. But I have to remind myself: they had a journey, and this is the beginning of mine.
I don't want my first blog post to add to the gloom of today's weather. I just want to keep it honest (or "100" as the young people say). Hopefully, by getting out my thoughts and feelings, I can wake up tomorrow with a brighter sense of accomplishment.
Signing off,
Dru
